Yes Falcon went through his selection for the Scout Jamboree 2007 and passed with flying colours!
This is fantastic new for our group as we now have Wolf and Falcon, representing our group at this activity.
Well Done Falcon! You deserve it....
The 8th can be proud as Wolf has made it through the leader selection for Jamboree 2007 with flying colour.
For those Scouts how are currently still going though this process, good luck this weekend! 11th March 2006)
WELL DONE WOLFIE !
I was in the 8th's Scout Hut on Friday and I have to say I was very impressed with the amount of Used Stamps and Old Ink Cartridges that they have been collecting for The Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Well done to everyone and please keep this up.
To remind you.. The 8th High Wycombe are collecting the following items to raise money for the Guide Dogs and collection boxes are available in the kitchen at thier head quarters:
- Used stamps
- Old Printer Cartridges
- Old Modile Phones
Please ask every one you know to collect these for you and bring them along, the next time you are in the hut.
BULLDOG
Well done to all those who turned up, it was alot of fun
well I enjoyed it.
Falcon
The 8th High Wycombe Scout Group are now collecting the following items to help us raise money for “Guide Dogs for the Blind”:
- Inkjet Printer Cartridges, Mobile Phones & Postage Stamps
“Each year, over 60 million inkjet printer cartridges are thrown away and over 15 million mobile phones are left unwanted in drawers and cupboards - this represents millions of pounds of possible funds for Guide Dogs. Just 10 donated inkjet cartridges could pay for a guide dog for a day and 10,000 mobile phones would pay for a guide dog for life! And it is not just high-tech trash that can be turned into cash - stamps can also be recycled to make money for Guide Dogs as these can be sold to collectors. Guide Dogs' Stamp Collecting Scheme has already raised an amazing amount of money.”
Could we all please ask your friends & families to help you (the companies that your parents work for is a good start) and bring them into the 8th Scout Hut the next time we are there.
More information can be found on the Guide Dogs web site

Thank you.
The details, prices and Advance Tickets form can now be found here on our Explorer site:
It was that time again, to renew our 1st Aid knowledge (something we do every three years).
This year saw four of the 8th's leaders taking part in a two day refresher course at the St Johns (High Wycombe) Head Quarters on Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd Oct.
Once again the team did well and all passed the exams, meaning that they continue to be qualified 1st Aiders for the 8th's Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and now Exploders?? (Sorry Explorers)
In our beaver group we have a life saver please read the story below to find out more:
"When Thomas was 4 years old, he saved my life. I am an insulin dependent diabetic, and one morning had a hypoglycaemic attack where I was unable to function at all. The next thing I knew, Thomas was forcing chocolate into me to get some sugar into my system. He gave me enough to bring me round to realise what was happening and sort myself out.
If it wasn't for him going downstairs and getting the chocolate from the fridge, where we placed some for the children to be able to reach it in such instances, I would probably have gone into a deeper coma and been very ill, if still alive.
I was, and still am, so proud of him, for not panicking and making me better, I was wondering if there are any Beaver badges to acknowledge his bravery."
Well done Thomas
